Do I need a permit to have a camp/brush fire?
- Yes. At this time a fire burning permit is required to have any type of outdoor fire. Permits can be obtained at any of the three stations at any time, so long as you are the land owner or have a signed letter from the land owner. Burning is restricted to the hours between 5pm and 12am. Once you have a permit you are required to call the SFD HQ business line (603-890-2200) to check if burning is allowed that particular day. Please call after 4pm to burn.
Whenever burnings please follow these simple rules:
- Always have a garden hose near the fire.
- Do not burn any pressure treated or painted lumber.
- When burning brush be sure all wood is less than 5″ diameter.
- Do not burn leaves as they can cause nuisance smoke for neighbors and may spread fire to unwanted locations.
